WRCO Hosts Tom Tresser of TIF Illumination Project

Content: WRCO will host TOM TRESSER, founder and lead organizer of the TIF Illumination Project from 7-8:30pm on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th at WARREN PARK. Tom will explain how Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts work and examine their impact on the 50th Ward, Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois. He will outline the many ways he believes TIFs have harmed communities.
Tresser said, "I have been on this beat since 2013, and attendees will learn things at this meeting that the Powers That Be do NOT want them to know. If you want to know why your property taxes are so high you must attend this meeting."
As of January 1, 2026 there was $3,221,005,472 (yes that's over 3 billion) in property tax revenue sitting in Chicago's 108 active TIF accounts.
