Legal Support Hotlines:

Accessing Pre-Trial Freedom

Posted by Andy1917

Content:

Since the Pretrial Fairness Act went into effect, community and policy organizations have worked together to ensure that our communities fully benefit from this historic civil rights legislation. This year, three reports were released about different aspects of the law, and a lawsuit was filed over the state's failure to implement the data collection provisions of the law.

On September 1st, community members will come together at Grace Place (637 S Dearborn) with the Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice, Network member Chicago Appleseed, Impact for Equity, and Raise the Floor Alliance to discuss implementation. “Accessing Pretrial Freedom” will feature a series of short presentations on the reports and the lawsuit followed by breakout groups where attendees will engage with organizers and policy experts on how we can work together to ensure greater access to pretrial freedom. Food will be served.
