Stop ICE Deportations “Stand in Solidarity with Eva and Enes”

Join Northwest Suburbs Organizing for Action (NWSOFA) Indivisible this Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 p.m. CDT on Zoom for an urgent solidarity call. We are coming together to support Eva Gurtovaia and her husband, Enes, a Kurdish asylum seeker who has been unjustly detained by ICE since November 2025 despite fully complying with all asylum requirements.
Enes was taken into custody just one day before Eva’s U.S. citizenship ceremony, after the couple had already built a stable life in Chicago. After eight months in DHS detention, Enes now faces a deportation order that is currently under appeal. At the same time, a federal habeas petition is under review, offering a real path to his release and the chance to overturn the deportation.

Eva has been carrying this fight alone, covering all living expenses while also paying nearly $35,000 in legal fees. She now faces a critical deadline: a $4,000 legal retainer due by August 13. If each of us contributes just one dollar, we can meet this goal together and help keep Enes’s case alive.
