Content:

Celebrate the release of Visions and Interventions: Thirty Years of Perspectives on Anarchist Theory and Anarchist Panther: Selected Writings of Ashanti O. Alston, both new from AK Press. Join former Black Panther Ashanti Alston and Paul Messersmith-Glavin from the Perspectives on Anarchist Theory collective in a discussion of these two compelling new books. We will also focus on what anarchism and anarchists have to offer a burning world in crisis.

This discussion will be moderated by Kim Feicke, a longtime antiracist organizer who was involved in Chicago’s A Zone & Active Resistance Gathering in the 90s. Today Kim primarily trains educators to better develop their consciousness & practices related to combating white supremacy and anti-Black racism.

Ashanti Omowali Alston is a writer, speaker, father, and activist originally from New Jersey. He is a former member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army who spent twelve years in prison. Ashanti is an inspiration and mentor to younger activists, helping to develop Black anarchist politics and support for political prisoners.

Paul Messersmith-Glavin is a longtime organizer, writer, dad, editor, and healthcare worker originally from Chicago who now lives in Portland, Oregon. He is a founding member of the Institute for Anarchist Studies, which supports organizers in the form of writing grants, and is a member of the collective that publishes the IAS’ journal, Perspectives on Anarchist Theory. He also works as a mentor with the Institute for Social Ecology, established by Murray Bookchin
