Since taking office, Trump has gutted the social safety and reduced funding to states. At every level of government, jurisdictions are struggled to fill the holes left by the federal government in order to meet the needs of everyday people. Even prior to the Trump administration, our communities were hurting as elected officials have prioritized the needs of the top 1% over those of our neighbors. Coalitions of community organizations are working together to influence city, county and state budget in order to protect us by investing in us.

Attendees will be in conversation with local organizers who have helped pass historic legislation securing millions of dollars in resources for Black and brown working class families. Organizers will break down their campaigns, give insights to building power in our neighborhoods, and teach participants how to plug in to fights already happening. More than a teach-in attendees will be invited to a social following the teach-in with free food and music.
