Dear Friends,

Evanston for a Free Palestine's goal - to make Evanston a safe space for open support means bringing Palestine everywhere we can, to normalize the inclusion of Palestinian liberation in our political and personal spaces like a (highly-political) family parade, to give courage to silent supporters to begin speaking, and to give reminders to those who have allowed our bipartisan American genocide to slide into the background of their thoughts...and the shameful genocide of our own indigenous community buried beneath the celebratory stars and stripes.

We want to show that Evanston for a Free Palestine is made up of your next door neighbor, your kid's teacher, the owner of that shop you love. We're people of many colors and faiths. We're community members just like you. We're contributing to the collective global effort to end a brutal genocide against a population that's 50% children, and deadly ongoing occupation and ethnic cleansing paid for with our tax dollars...and everyone can join us in this effort.

If there's anything we know about living in the US, it's that the land, citizenship, empire-provided "freedoms" have been bought and paid for with other people's blood, including Palestinian blood. So if we're going to talk about being American, we're going to talk about it in those terms in order to change the terms. This 4th of July, we're representing Evanston for a Free Palestine.
