Content: The Democratic Party machine is trying to deny 25th Ward Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez access to the ballot for the November midterms. After Chuy García rigged the succession to hand his seat to his own chief of staff, Patty García, Byron went out and collected over 17,000 signatures — 15 times what’s required — to earn his spot. Now Chuy and Patty, backed by billionaires like JB Pritzker, are challenging those signatures and trying to throw him off. They’re not protecting democracy. They’re afraid of a real working class challenge to their corrupt power! You cannot fight for democracy in Washington while strangling it right here in Chicago.
