Content: 🎨Join us for our first ever, Chicago Artist Salon, a gathering of artists, art-lovers, and cultural workers seeking to use our craft to build a new world! Artist salons are part of the rich history of cultural workers — from John Reed Clubs to the radical salons of the Harlem Renaissance to Artists United Against Apartheid, cultural workers have built power not as isolated individuals, but as a movement. Join us for an evening of live music, a panel on the role of the artist in the struggle for liberation, an art gallery, and more! This salon is also a fundraiser for and with @en_lastablas, a performing arts organization in Hermosa that has spent the last 20 years using art and culture in building a stronger community and fighting for immigrant rights. 🎟Suggested Donation of $5-15 Art and culture are not separate from the working class struggle. Art and culture are simultaneously influencing and being influenced by our social, political, and economic conditions. In a time of overlapping crisis from rising costs of living, domestic ICE terror, and a judicial and legislative assault on the Voting Rights Act, we have to ask ourselves as cultural workers, what side are we willing to fight for?
