Join us for a full day of Black and Native music, history and cultural exchange centered on the drum and the banjo.

Presented by the American Indian Center in partnership with the Black Banjo Reclamation Project @black.banjo.reclamation , Reclaimed Resonance creates space to learn, create, reflect and experience the deep connections these instruments carry across communities and generations.

The day begins at 10 a.m. with a hands-on workshop focused on creating a Native hand drum. At 1 p.m., the day continues with a workshop focused on the steps of creating a banjo. Each workshop is two hours long, and guests may register for one or both.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a panel discussion exploring Black and Native shared histories, the connections between our communities, and the cultural journeys of the drum and banjo. At 6 p.m., the day concludes with a performance that brings those histories into living expression through rhythm, sound and story.

Please note that workshop tickets are separate from tickets for the panel discussion and performance.

Tickets are free, but space is limited, so we ask that you RSVP through the ticket link. If you reserve a spot and later find you can’t attend, please let us know so we can open that space for someone else.

We would love to have you join us for a day grounded in making, learning, conversation and performance as we gather around the shared resonance of these traditions.
