What is “domestic work” and what does it have to do with the Filipinx/a/o community? Join our next Seeding AFIRE this Saturday 5/16 to learn more about the nature and history of domestic work and why we continue to advocate for full implementation of the IL Bill of Rights for Domestic Workers. Register at tinyurl.com/seeding-afire for event details.

Join AFIRE for a community film screening of a story that bridges the Filipinx/a/o diasporic experience with the intimate life and struggles of being an overseas domestic worker.*

*The City of Chicago defines a Domestic Worker as a person whose primary duties include housekeeping; house cleaning; home management; nanny services, including childcare and child monitoring; caregiving, personal care or home health services for elderly persons or persons with illnesses, injuries, or disabilities who require assistance in caring for themselves; laundering; cooking; companion services; chauffeuring; and other household service to members of households or their guests in or about a private home or residence, or any other location where the domestic work is performed.

Programming will begin promptly at 11:00a; doors will open at 10:30a. Masks are required and will be available at registration. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to ensure we have enough nourishment for everyone, and to receive the full event details. This form has one page.

Last day to register is Friday, May 15.
