Presented monthly by the Blue Beginning chapter of Indivisible Chicago, Show Up Chicago is a combination community gathering, cocktail hour, and political panel show at Chicago's most highly evolved saloon. It's a great chance to mingle with like-minded neighbors, hear the latest from political insiders, and gossip about the issues we all care about.

Our topic this month will be The New New Journalism: As legacy media outlets crumble (and capitulate), we're getting more and more of our news from independent DIY reporters working through platforms like Substack, TikTok, YouTube, etc. As news consumers, who do we trust? How do we verify? What are the implications for the all-important midterm elections coming in November? Our guests will be former Tribune editor Mark Jacob, now proprietor of the Substack media newsletter Stop the Presses, and Steve Held, cofounder of the independent news site Unraveled.com.
