Meitheal (pronounced meh-hal) is an ancient Irish term describing a gathering of people who work together, sharing and celebrating unity, interdependence and mutual support, all for the greater good.
— Michele Horrigan and Sean Lynch, Askeaton Contemporary

ICE: Your children will know, your children will not forget
— Anonymous Minneapolitan who staples this message to telephone poles as their contribution to the giant meitheal which has been fighting ICE’s terror campaign.

Come join us for Co-Prosperity’s first(?) meitheal, an after party celebrating the exhausting communal work we’ve done together in this most recent cycle of strong fascism in this death cult of an empire. Let’s pretend* dancing and revelry’s proof of that shared work.

Trqpiteca will play and there will be performance art and you will use your body for something more dignified than holding a wine glass near a price list. We’ll be fêting (and dancing within) Askeaton Contemporary Arts’ exhibition of 4 Irish artists and a Chicagoan, the stellar “Tuneful Places.” We’ll be smoking and talking outside while looking at the hundreds of ICE protest posters that an anonymous artist drove down from Minneapolis for the amazing window show “Love in the Time of Resistance.”

Let’s dance because the imperial state is conducting itself in a manner that requires smashing but also because all this smashing requires intermittent abandon. Let’s dance to prefigure the kind of party we’ll throw when we have abolished ICE and eaten the oligarchy and outlawed oil and nobody knows what a settler colonizer is anymore. Our time will come (it’s Friday night). 💫💃🏽
