Content: Join us for a screening of ‘The Killing Floor,’ which tells the story of Black sharecropper Frank Custer’s journey from Mississippi to Chicago, where he becomes a meatpacking worker and unionist. 🍼 Childcare provided on site. Based on historical research into the lives of Black and immigrant stockyard workers, the film details the struggle of meatpackers in Chicago in forming a union while confronting racism, union busting, and national oppression on the path to building a united movement that can challenge the boss for dignity, higher wages, job security, safety, and workplace democracy. At a time when the idea of a general strike is spreading, this film is rich with lessons for all workers fighting for their rights and seeking to smash racism and white supremacy with our collective labor power!
