Content: Rad Webinar - a webinar series from Law For Black Lives. Guest speaker: Benji Hart. Abolition 101: Foundations is a dive into abolition during a time of heightened law enforcement and deployment of troops and ICE to U.S. cities. This session grounds us in the truth that police is police is police -- whether it's local PD, ICE, or militarized federal forces -- and that these systems exist to invisibilize and manage harm, not prevent it. Together, we will unpack: * What abolition means (and what it doesn't) Held in collaboration with Benji Hart, this workshop draws on Ruth Wilson Gilmore's framing of abolition as "about presence, not absence." Through guided discussion and a collective exercise mapping instances of harm -- and the interventions that could have prevented them--participants will interrogate PICE as an inherent form of violence and imagine the resources that actually create safety.
