Content: Immigration Raids and the Politics of Contemporary Enforcement in the Urban and Rural Midwest Please join us for an event on the politics and effects of immigration raids in Chicago and beyond, featuring Prof. William López (University of Michigan’s School of Public Health), author of the book Raiding the Heartland. Prof. López will be in conversation with local Chicago community leaders, including Chicago Alderman Michael Rodriguez, Dr Linda Rae Murray (formerly Cook County Department of Public Health and APHA), and Maureen Graves (Neighbors United for Mutual Support). The panel will discuss immigration raids in small rural communities across the Midwest, and how they compare to the experience of the Windy City under the Trump administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz,” including for immigrant communities on Chicago’s south side. Prof. Aresha Martinez-Cardoso (University of Chicago’s Department of Public Health Sciences) will moderate the panel.
