Content: Decades of Denial: Understanding Illinois' C-Numbers and the Impact of Long Prison Sentences In 1978 Illinois transitioned away from parole and left nearly 22,000 previously-sentenced inmates without a set release date. These prisoners, known as C-Numbers, depend on the Prisoner Review Board for their freedom. Today, only about 35 remain incarcerated, many elderly and languishing behind bars. Join Project Sound Off and the MacArthur Justice Center's National Parole Transformation Project for a screening of the film "If This Is Justice" and a diverse panel of speakers exploring how decades-long prison sentences affect individuals, families, and our community as a whole. Justice-impacted individuals, their loved ones, and former C-Numbers are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Panelists are Edith Crigler, Johnnie "Khalif" Veal, Najel "JeiJei" Webster, and Illinois State Rep. Curtis Tarver. Moderated by Ben Austen.
